30 Prayer Requests

Klint Ostermann • May 18, 2014

Here are 30 specific things you can pray for the next 30 days as we make our transition to Uganda next month:

  1. Focus on God–Pray that we will stay focused on God and His plans above all else. “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you.” Matthew 6:33
  2. Provision–Pray for God’s provision for our needs while we are away. Pray that funding will be available when it is needed. Pray that people will continue to come alongside us and support us. “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
  3. Family–Pray for the family that we are leaving that they will understand why we are sacrificing time with them to obey the will of God. Please pray for all of us, on both sides of the ocean, that we would continue to feel the bond and love of family even though we are separated by such a great distance.
  4. Dependence on God–Pray that we will model a life of dependence on God. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways, and he will guide you on the right paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
  5. Paytyn–Pray that she will adjust well to her new life in Uganda. Pray that she will have peace with the fact that she will be leaving behind friends, family, and conveniences. Pray that she will excel in her education in Uganda. Pray that she maintains her health. Pray for a very best friend to be sent her way.
  6. Devotion to God– Pray that we will maintain our devotion to Christ. “But I fear that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your minds may be corrupted from a complete and pure devotion to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 11:3
  7. Morgan–Pray that she will adjust well to her new life in Uganda. Pray that she will have peace with the fact that she will be leaving behind friends, family, and conveniences. Pray that she will excel in her education in Uganda. Pray that a new environment will be beneficial to her ADD issues. Pray that she maintains her health. Pray that her allergy-induced asthma doesn’t cause her any issues in Uganda. Pray for a very best friend to be sent her way.
  8. Direction from God– Pray that we will get our direction from the Lord only. “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you for [your] benefit, who leads you in the way you should go.” Isaiah 48:17
  9. Olivia– Pray that she will adjust well to her new life in Uganda. Pray that she will have peace with the fact that she will be leaving behind friends, family, and conveniences. Pray that she will excel in her education in Uganda. Pray that we will make the correct decision regarding her education. Pray that she maintains her health. Pray for a very best friend to be sent her way.
  10. Eyes to See Like Jesus– Ask God to give us eyes to see as He sees and empower them to love the unlovely, the rejected, and the outcasts as Jesus did. “Man does not see what the Lord sees, for man sees what is visible, but the Lord sees the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7b
  11. Strong Marriage–Pray for our marriage to be strong and healthy. “Husbands, in the same way, live with your wives with understanding of their weaker nature yet showing them honor as co-heirs of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.” 1 Peter 3:7
  12. Our ministry–Pray that God will bless our ministry and that we will successfully minister to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the people of Uganda.
  13. Persistence–Pray for endurance, stamina, and pacing for us to insure long-term, fruitful ministry. “I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14
  14. The people of Uganda–Pray for open minds, open hearts, and teachable attitudes for the people that we will be ministering to in Uganda.
  15. Obedience–Pray that we will love and obey God, and to be known for our dependability to obey regardless of outside pressure. “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” John 14:15
  16. The Government of Uganda–Pray that the government will cooperate with our ministry. Pray that the process of getting our work visas will be smooth. Pray that our efforts to create a non-governmental organization in Uganda will be fruitful.
  17. Holy Living–Ask God to empower us to be healthy in mind, body, and spirit. “…I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” Romans 12:1-2
  18. Heart for Uganda–Pray that our organization will continue to be successful in raising funds for our programs in Uganda. Pray that we will be able to expand our ministry with other missionaries that can come alongside us. Pray that our Board of Directors will operate our organization with wisdom and integrity.
  19. Express Love–Pray that we will model loving God completely and others as themselves. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.” Mark 12:30
  20. Peace–Pray that we will give all our anxious thoughts to the God and rest in His peace. “Don’t worry about anything, but, in everything through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
  21. Boast in the Lord–Pray that we will be quick to give God the credit. “So the one who boasts must boast in the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 10:17
  22. Health and Safety–Pray that God will protect us from things like malaria, parasites, snake bites, spider bites, broken bones that will hamper our mission and are difficult to treat in a third world country.
  23. Spirit of Unity–Pray for a spirit of unity as we work together and with other ministry partners. “Now may the God of endurance and encouragement grant you agreement with one another according to Christ Jesus.” Romans 15:5
  24. Gracious Speech–Ask God to give us the grace to know how to respond to each person. “Your speech should always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you should answer each person.” Colossians 4:6
  25. Resist Temptation–Pray that we will be quick to take the escape God provides when temptation sneaks up on us. “God is faithful and He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation He will also provide a way of escape, so that you are able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13b
  26. Stand Firm–Pray that we will stand firm under affliction and to look forward to eternal glory. “For our momentary light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory.” 2 Corinthians 4:17
  27. Purity–Pray that we will be so renewed by God’s Word that no sin will have dominion over us. “Make my steps steady through Your promise; don’t let sin dominate me.” Psalm 119:133
  28. Boldness–Pray for boldness when we share the gospel or preach. “Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel.” Ephesians 6:19
  29. Humility–Pray for us to have a spirit of humility and to willingly ask God for wisdom in carrying out our mission. “Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5
  30. Glory to God–Ask God to empower us to point people to Jesus and not seek undue recognition for ourselves. “In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
